hey i work in my dad's golf shop in norwich and we've just got the new Callaway Optifit fitting system, which means you can try Callaway products with any shafts. You just unscrew the head and put together the shaft and loft option you want. Its awesome and the FT5 is very very good. But thats my opinion

i've used the FT drivers and i have to say - they are absolutely amazing. At the moment i have the ft-3 9degree with draw set up. The massive 460cc is really good esp if you like to wack the ball with a fast swing. I improved about 30-40 yards over the Hawkeye VFT i was using.
i played a couple of shots with the ft-5 and did not find it to be that much better than the ft-3, atleast not the justify paying that much more! but again the person who gave me the ft-5 to use would only let me hit a few shots so maybe did not realise its full potential.
also if you're not used smaller head, be careful with your club selection. my dad (who also uses an ft-3) never quite got the hang of the club and is still waiting to see that increase in his drive.
hope that helps.

i've used the callaway FT hybrid club. i used the 3H club 20 degree loft (for just a couple of rounds, ie. not too many shots) and the distance i got would have been about midway between what i would get with my hawkeye vft 3 and 5 fairway woods which was quite good.
it is a nice club, kind of weird when you first use it. at the back of my mind i was confused as to whether i was playing with a wood or something else!! but personally, i dont quite get hte hype behind these clubs. i feel more confident hitting with a fairway wood and dont think will replace them with a hybrid and psychologically, fairway woods works better for me! but then again, i'm not exactly a pro.

I'd recommend you opening a new topic instead of discussing this hybrid issue under "ft-5".
In my case, I use a Srixon AD 3 hybrid. The look, setup, and impact sound are wonderful. This is not a common brand/club you can find in the market. But when you see it, it's definitely worth a try. (Don't understand why it isn't getting bigger in N. America)
