MIZUNO’S NEW CLK FLI-HI™ HYBRID
Ultra light Titanium crown for high ball flight Mizuno has introduced the new CLK FLI-HI™ hybrid, an improvement on the current FLI-HI CLK’s used by numerous PGA Tour players including 2006 tournament winners Luke Donald and J.J. Henry. The CLK FLI-HI™ hybrid offers a more versatile alternative to the traditional lofted fairway wood. Featuring an ultra-thin, lightweight 15-3-3-3 titanium crown (just 2.6% of the overall headweight) and high-tech precision stainless steel face and body, the CLK FLI-HI possesses an extremely low and deep center of gravity for high launch and maximum forgiveness. Mizuno engineers redistributed the weight saved from the crown area of the club to the sole and the perimeter of the club head for an effortless, high launch and soft landing. Mizuno’s patented CORTECH™ technology in the CLK FLI-HI™ utilizes three variable face thicknesses to deliver uniform face deflection for unsurpassed distance control and variable sole weighting and moderate off-set delivers a high, straight ball flight. The Speed Plate™ sole design of the CLK FLI-HI™ features increased relief on the toe and heel to reduce turf drag for enhanced playability from the tee box, the fairway, the rough, or the sand. “Utilizing an ultra-thin, lightweight titanium crown in the CLK FLI-HI and brazing it to a stainless steel body allowed us to distribute weight in key locations around the club head to maximize launch angle and forgiveness,” said Dick Lyons, Vice President and General Manager, Mizuno USA Golf Division. “The result is a utility club that is extremely easy to hit from anywhere on the course. The CLK FLI-HI takes the fear out of long approach shots and packs the punch to help you get home in two on par fives. The CLK FLI-HI makes the game easier, and there aren’t many golfers, amateurs or professionals, that wouldn’t welcome that.” The CLK FLI-HITM will be offered in right hand and left hand with True Temper® CLK Hybrid Superlite shaft standard in steel, and the Mizuno Exsar® HS2 shafts standard in graphite in lofts of 17, 20, 23, and 26 degrees. Other shafts can be fitted as part of the Mizuno Custom Fitting program.
